Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she received an Emmy Award. Also, she has appeared in dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the only daughter of the United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a domestic worker. Her childhood was spent in a family with four other brothers. While she had a childhood dream of becoming journalist, it wasn't until high school when Delaney started modeling. When she moved away from New York City and gaining experience in commercials at New York did she achieve an aspiring career as court reporters. Her first role as an actor came as a young girl in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Delaney is well-known as an actress, appearing in many films, TV movies, and dramas. As with her professional career but her personal life hasn't been a success or happy one. The skilled actor had to battle alcoholism, and has had two failed marriages. The actress lost custody of her son in 2005.
