Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her professional title Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. Dreamville Records released her debut EP titled Pho in October 2016 where she started to get recognition. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks on the internet in 2012 after she dropped her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her own single Bound, as well as the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. The song Sweat it part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21 2015. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's reference. Later in the calendar, her songs was played throughout Dreamville. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was the result of her participation to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 21, 2016, the artist released her debut album entitled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017. She also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to guest feature on two of her songs along with label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video for it was also released on September 5th. On the 9th of November she dropped two more singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November, 13 she dropped two more singles titled No One and Pdigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole on her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16th, and she released the song in a solo version to her debut album. This track, which was made available with a video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been viewed over 3 million times in the first seven days. In December 2018 she performed on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
